Babies!

Monday, May 19, 2008

Well I did my first photo session today and it was a 3 week old baby. I'm realizing now it might have been a bit too much to chew. I had a few problems, the first was being able to get the depth of field correct. I have a lot of pictures were the mom and baby are in focus but the dad standing in behind them is out of focus. The second is an issue I'm having with photo shop and using their black and white function. Their eyes look like vampires! The fortunate thing being it was my brother, sis in law, and new niece that I got to take pictures of and I warned them not to have too high of expectations in case I should get absolutely nothing of value today. If there was nothing else I learned today it was that I have a lot to learn about portraiture.

Those pictures are soooo beautiful! I bet your sister loved them!

What did you use for the backdrop? I soooo have to learn how to isolate a colour like that in photoshop! GREAT JOB AMANDA!

Thanks Lareina! She really liked them a lot. I was so happy. I was nervous at first because I don't have much faith in myself but they seemed to turn out ok.

For a backdrop I just bought some cheapo black fabric at fabricland. It's like a poly/cotton blend and doesn't wrinkle very easily. I was then able to just black out certain places with photoshop after the fact that may have looked a bit grey from the light.
